Today one of my co-workers made the rounds to ask about lunch. I suggested we go to Six Burner. Everyone in the office likes it and several people really wanted to try their cheeseburgers. I really wanted to try their macaroni and cheese with oysters before oyster season ends. I didn’t let on that’s why I wanted to go there…I just acted like it was one of those places we hadn’t been in awhile. Mwahaha.
After we were seated, we ended up sitting for quite awhile because there was only one waitress and the place was pretty close to full. Since we had to sit there, we went around the table telling what we were going to order. Some people were a little put off by the “gourmet” slant of the menu but most people found what they wanted. I said I was getting the mac and cheese. Most everyone was horrified. I admit it sounds weird. It was delicious.
My only improvement suggestion, which I’m sure the chef is dying to hear about, is that I would have used a slotted spoon to transfer the food from the cook pot to the serving bowl. I’m not a huge fan of pasta that swims in sauce. I felt like I needed a spoon to eat the last bit of pasta. That’s a small thing to complain about and is completely a personal preference. The taste was excellent and there were 8-10 good sized oysters in the bowl.
