The Continuing Saga of the Jetted Tub

I decided to buy a container of pool shock while at the Depot this morning on the advice of reader Jet. She said in a comment ages ago that her husband thought pool shock would work on our jetted tub. The tub is running for its third and final 15 minute cycle (I just picked that number out of the air) and I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll be able to take a bath with the jets running. Jet you may have to tell your husband he’s a genius.

I’ve kind of had it with the tub and cleaning the bathroom in general today so I’ve marked my calendar to give the tub a try after work on Friday. I may not be able to control my curiosity and give it a whirl earlier in the week. At any rate, I’ll be sure to mention if the tub is usable or if it spews forth gunk. A posting about me taking a bath–cutting edge journalism, no?

The story we’d like to hear, as long as there aren’t and pictures!!

It’s funny, because this house also came with a spa tub. It’s even a heart shaped, black tile, brass fixtured doo-hickie. Looked real nice when we first moved in. The daughters, of course, wanted to use it right after we moved in. So I’m in the garage having a Phillip-Morris moment, and water starts cascading through the garage ceiling! Turns out the previous owners had installed the tub, but didn’t finish hooking up all of the hardware (like the drain). We got it fixed, but I think Liz and I have only used that tub 2 or 3 times in the almost 4 years we’ve lived here. Probably one more time than the previous owners (maybe explaining why they were divorcing and selling the house in the first place).

Now it is just a dust magnet, and a good place to store the extra shampoo, TP and misc. bathroom supplies.

I hope it works for you. I haven’t messed with my current jetted tub yet, we have a leak in the shower that is dripping into the basement. The shower has been replaced twice and repaired twice. I’m just about ready to start showering in the backyard with a garden hose. Have some champagne and candlelight when you try it out. Very relaxing. Good Luck!!
