Tonight we went to see “YOUR RICHMOND BRAVES”. Now say that in a deep radio announcer’s voice and you’ll feel right at home. We got there really early because the power went out at the office and since there wasn’t a darn thing we could do about it, we changed clothes and left. We got to the ballpark a little after 6:15 and discovered a game in progress.
Now, mind you, I checked the team’s website and the local paper’s site to see if they were doing a double-header since it has rained nearly every evening this week. No mention…why have technology if you aren’t going to use it?
“YOUR RICHMOND BRAVES” lost the first game. I like baseball but I even have to admit that first game was one of the most boring games I’ve ever witnessed. No spectacular plays and one run the entire game. Hohum. We left after 3 innings of the second game and it was tied. I’m predicting “YOUR RICHMOND BRAVES” lost. The Mudhens were on.
Highlights of our time at the ballpark:
-We couldn’t identify which section had all that concrete fall out of it and into the stands. Good job on the patching.
-The burgers were pretty good. We’ve decided to boycott Dominic’s sausages since they steam their buns and that’s just nasty.
-The beer was cold and I got carded. I thanked the cashier for that.
-We ate an entire bag of peanuts.
-We sat behind home plate with a bunch of old people. Let me tell you, it matters not how old you are, if free swag is being given out you rush in with elbows swinging.
-The guy in the Barney outfit had some excellent break-dancing moves.
-Made a note to avoid General Admission section 206 since 90% of all fly balls went to that section. No lie. It was weird.
-Last, but not least, it was hotter n’ hades.
