We took the wrong train to kingdom come

Content has been light because it has just seemed like so much work. Between beginning the summer with three classes and the job situation sucking so hard, I just haven’t felt like doing jack.

The classes are over and the next two don’t start until late August. The job situation is really THE ENERGY SUCK. We’re down to less than 46 days until the doors shut. And, as you can tell from the previous entry the craziness has really ramped up. I had two nagging headaches this week and I’m sure it’s because of the insanity.

I had what I thought was a sure thing lined up at another university (three interviews, a presentation, references checked), but it fell through. The other finalist was a better fit. The funny thing? When the recruiter called to tell me, she said she hoped the news didn’t ruin my vacation. I’m surprised she couldn’t see my eyes roll through the phone. Really? I waited all year for a week at the beach and your bad decision is not going to ruin my vacation. Gawd.

Now, I’m back to the search. I made my resume public yesterday on monster.com and this morning I had way too many emails about sales jobs. Got to love those ‘bots that just generate emails in response to any new resume. Also, someone called me by the masculine of my name. That email went straight to the junk mail cesspool. Don’t worry, monster isn’t the only place that has my resume.

I’ve applied for a few jobs that I know are over my head, but I figured why the hell not. I also applied for a position at a place that sells one of my favorite things in the whole world (booze). Maybe that will work out so I can get a discount and really pickle my liver.
