House Guest

This weekend we had a very special house guest. She’s nine years old and is short and stubby, owing to the fact she’s a dachshund. Her name is Gracie. Her parents left her with us on Thursday evening and they just picked her up a little while ago. She was a load of fun if not a little slobbery. We played several games of ball toss in the backyard yesterday and today. She was worn out when her parents arrived but still very happy to see them. I predict she’s going to sleep like a rock tonight. Last night she and I turned in and I didn’t hear a peep out of her until about 6 this morning.

My sister brought the nieces over this afternoon to see Gracie and to meet Simon. Simon stayed under the guest bedroom bed while they were here. He’s been spending a lot of time under there this weekend. In fact, I know Simon and Gracie never saw each other. He was a pretty good sport through the whole thing but I’m sure he’ll be happy to have free roaming about the house again.

Glad to hear that Simon is hanging out and fitting in well. Did the nieces get to meet him, or did he stay under the bed while they were there too?

As you know, I have a Gracie dog too…great dog name if I say so myself! And you are awesome friends to take in a dog. I’ve always been worried they will run away if I am watching a friend’s dog.

Simon stayed under the bed but refrained from hissing so I consider that to be positive. He came out pretty quickly after the nieces and the dog left.
