We’re going to the Pacific Northwest in May. We’re flying into Seattle and staying there a few days, then going over into Canada and thanks to a suggestion from a co-worker we’re driving into the middle of Washington to check out Leavenworth. As you can tell, our plans are pretty sketchy. In fact, the co-worker (who is from there and has family still there) gave me a hard time about our lack of any plans today. He and his family have booked their flight for their July trip. He told me he wanted to give me a little motivation.
If you’ve been to the area and have any suggestions, please post a comment. I’d really like to hear what you have to say. We’ve been making notes and want to pack as much as we can into the week we’ll be gone. I’m actually going to take off 7 days but the 7th day will be a day of recovery back at the home front.
Amy told me that you would be out this way and thought if I had any tips to help you out I could find you here. So…here I am. The best thing I found online was called a city pass. You get to go to the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center(with a movie), Woodland Park Zoo, Museum of Flight, Argosy Cruise of the Sound, and the Seattle Aquarium for $35/person. Just going to the Space Needle is like $20/person. Just to give you an idea. No, you dont have to see them all in one day either. You have about a week to use the coupons. I believe all you have to do is go to citypass.com or something like that. All my husband and I did was to go to one of the attractions and ask for them.
You will love Leavenworth. My husband does a charity bike ride and that is where we stay one of the nights. I dont know if there is a lot to do there or not, we usually just stay one night then leave the next day. But there are a lot of little shops that are really neat to go look at. There is also a place called Cold Stone Creamery. I dont know if there are any out your way or not, but some of my relatives love it.
You have to go see Mt Rainier or Mt St Helens. I live closer to St Helens. I think it is a little more interesting than Rainier, just because I lived through the ash and everything.
Then on the coast is the whale watching and kite festivals.
But it all depends on what you like to do. No, you cant do it all in one day, but that is a good thing. Keeps you coming back. LOL
Just let me know if you have any questions, I will TRY and answer them.
Have a great trip if I dont hear from you.
Leslie
Thanks for the tips…I’ll check out that city pass. We found something called GoSeattle or something like that–maybe it’s the same as city pass.
Wow, Leslie, from reading all that the Washington area has to offer, maybe I should take a trip out there one day! Hee hee!
