Winter Weather

So, we have 3-5″ of snow coming. Most of the area schools have already closed even though there’s nothing going on yet. We have some snow on the ground from the other day, but the roads are still clear. All of that’s about the change though and being practically-minded, I decided to work from home today.

Taking 40 minutes to drive to work to stay for 2 hours is really not my idea of a good time–because the drive home would be longer what with all the idiots on the road (me included).

In anticipation of the snow, the snowbot has returned to my desk:

We were supposed to get less than an inch starting at noon. At 10:00 this morning I was in Rockville and had to white knuckle it home up 270. It took me about 30 minutes to drive the untreated, unplowed back roads home from 270, about 3.5 miles. I didn’t see any evidence of treatment between Rockville and Frederick and I have to tell you I’m pissed about it too. We have at least 3 inches so far and it’s still snowing now at 3:45. I don’t think it’s too much to ask to get things right occasionally!!

I’d be pissed too. It’s not like they didn’t know the storm was coming.

We’re getting ice now on top of about 2″ of snow. The road in front of our house is unplowed and I haven’t been out to see about the back roads…hoping for the best. And, that means we don’t lose power tonight.

My office didn’t get canceled until 4pm today–I was at home, but what good is a 4pm closing?

I’m sure we will get iced over tonight as well. It’s supposed to get down to 19. That means I probably won’t make any money tomorrow but hopefully they will clear the shit off the roads by the time the sun starts the melting. Sadly, I forgot to go to the liquor store while I was out! Hopefully you can hunker down and stay home tomorrow as well.
