You don’t tug on Superman’s cape

So, the stray we fed all through the winter turned out to be female. She had a kitten. He’s now living around our back stoop. We’re calling him Jim as in the Jim Croce song–Don’t Mess Around With Jim.

He tends to stick his feet in the bowl when he eats. The better-half is working on making friends with Jim. His mother is a lost cause and will always be wary, but she is coming up to the house to eat now.

Wow, talk about a mini-me! Only one kitten? That’s unusual. They are so cute. Does Simon interact with them?

She only had one kitten. If she had others, we never saw them.

Jim broke into the porch last night while Simon was out there. Simon ignored him and Jim wasn’t quite sure if he should be on the porch or not. It was the first night we got to pet Jim. We could tell the kitty was conflicted about the petting, but the boy likes a good neck scratch. Jim followed me around this morning as usual, but didn’t get close enough to be petted.

Simon once scolded another kitten so much that it took off like a shot and we never saw it again. He seems to be OK with these two.
