The tree did survive and then decided to get really tall and fill itself out. Now, look what’s coming:

I think we are too cold for figs here, although I’m always willing to try. Funny, you just posted a comment on how I haven’t written anything in a while just about the same time I hit publish on a new post. I know, I’ve been very lame.

No! Not lame. I understand the doldrums. Sometimes there’s nothing to report.

The figs we have are Chicago figs and I bought them because they are supposed to resist weather. My grandparents lived on the Potomac when I was a teen (well before that, but I didn’t meet them until I was almost a teen) and they had figs on the Northern Neck. No idea on the hardiness of those plants. Just delicious and the inspiration to get some of our own.

As an aside, I’ve had to retype this a gazillion times because I’ve had wine and beer tonight…the weather is perfect for staying up, having a drink, and, apparently checking the internet! Oyvey.

I hear ya. Jim perfected an absolutely delicious version of a raspberry mojito tonight. Fresh berries muddled with fragrant mint and my typing skills have dwindled considerably. I’m sitting here listening to the mating calls of frogs, topping off the night with a beer.
