Pile Upon Pile

The job news is disappointing and annoying. We received the new organization chart yesterday and it is still packed to the gills with a management level which is exactly what we heard the head muckety-muck say he didn’t want the other day when he met with us. The org. chart screams “I’m saving my friends and the hell with the little people”. As a little people it annoys the ever-loving out of me. Our unit was slashed and we’re still patting out the fire on our backs (or maybe that’s staunching the wounds in our backs from all the knives that have been thrown lately). We currently have 6 positions that do what I do and in the new configuration we’ll have 3. We still don’t know who will stay and who will go.

As if I weren’t already in a fabulous mood, I talked to a work friend a little while ago about one of her courses that I’d done some work on for the elearning group. I was supportive of her and talked about some of the things that are going on with that course but it sounds like I’m completely cut out of that project. I think what happened was the rude SOB I had problems with at the beginning of the year left the organization and those remaining in that unit were desperate. They asked me to do some work and now that I’ve done the grunt work, they have cut me out of the project. I didn’t let on to my work friend my theory since she’s not really part of that whole mess. I’m really beginning to think that no matter how much I’d like to move into the elearning side of training that I don’t need to work in a snake pit. Of course all of this could be some crap I made up in my head…only usually when I make stuff up in my head I’m the superstar and not the one taking a slippery slide down the shaft.

Well that sucks. There doesn’t seem to be anything right about telling 3 people they will be losing their job, yet not telling which three it will be.

Things must be tense and not fun at all at work for you.

There must be something in the atmosphere. We all need some good news these days. Thanks for your support on my end!
