We got a dusting of snow overnight and most of the grassy surfaces are uncovered already. Our woods look very picturesque and there are some flurries still falling. Just so we’d have the whole winter experience, we lost power for several hours this morning. I suppose a pine tree leaned over too far or snapped off in the wind.
It is supposed to get well below freezing tonight and I’m worried about the plants we put into the ground a few weeks ago. I hope they’ve gotten a good grip on things by now and will survive. I have a pot of lettuce at the bottom of the back steps that I’ll have to remember to bring in tonight. The little leaves have only just started to pop out and I’d hate to have to start over again.
The one good thing about the snowy weather today is that it will keep me in the house which is a good thing since I have multiple papers to write between now and the end of the semester. We’re headed to Charlottesville next Saturday night to see Vienna Teng perform and so I need to get work done this weekend so I can play the next.
I’ve been putting buckets over my new blueberry and the one I transplanted. I think I’ll put my lettuce seeds in the garden this weekend.
Happy Easter!
