I am SICK of marketing because it is everywhere and I’m tired of being harrassed.
I’m especially sick and hostile to Verizon right now. Yeah, I’m naming names. Because, although their wireless service rocks, I am sick to death of their constant barrage of marketing calls. We’ve had 22 calls in the last month or so from them. If your caller id is filling up with this number 702 835 0178, it’s Verizon and they must be stopped.
I was openly hostile to the telemarketer today and she kept saying “are you authorized for this account”. I told her if I’m answering the phone at my house I must be authorized and then I told her to get us off her list and then I slammed the phone down. Actually, not exactly, since I have to press a button to turn off the phone but I pressed it hard.
Then, since I was still worked up, I went to their website to give them a further smackdown only to have the website pitch my comment right into the ether. I retyped my firm and no fooling around email and pushed SEND (not rude, but firm about how I’m sick of their calls to up-sell me). If we get any more calls from them, I’m taking my cell phone to the store and shoving it up someone’s ass…so if you work for Verizon, beware.
I never realized how many crap calls we missed when we were on dial-up and stayed connected all the time. We haven’t had any problems with Verizon, but the Red Cross and the Police fundraisers (which I think are total fakes) are driving me crazy.
Ever heard of the Do-Not-Call List? Firms that you already do business with can still call you.
You have to contact them and request that they put you on their INTERNAL do not call list, otherwise they will continue to call. Telling the “telemarketer” that calls your home does no good. You must make an effort to reach someone in customer service and INSIST that you be placed on the company Do-Not-Call List.
BTW, my google search brought up your site when I ran the phone number on my CID. Since my Verizon Wireless contract runs out shortly, I expect there will be more calls (Obviously, I will ignore, since, thanks to you, I now know who is on the other end of the call from Nevada, 702-835-0178).
Yep, we’ve put ourselves on the Do Not Call List and we have specifically asked Verizon to put us on their do not call (someone at customer service that we contacted directly–not the poor schmucks who call here a zillion times).
866-259-3883 is also Verizon. I’m glad my rant is coming up in search to save other people the headache too.
