I think he’s some sort of tree frog…his feet looked more frog-like than toad…but who knows. He was there all day until it got dark. Haven’t seen him since.
I bet you have some handsome spiders down there, too. I’ve only been as far south as Frederickburg actively hunting them. I caught one the locals called a Wood Spider, but I think it was some kind of Wolf spider. Bigger than any tarantula I’ve seen in the pet store. That was a good catch. Carried him around on my shoulder for quite a while.

Lacking a prominant parotid gland, located on the posterodorsal region of the head of most toads, I would think that this is, indeed, a frog.
Especially with the horizontal pupils.
Don’t get all scientific on me, man…I dig that science/geek-speak too much.
I can try to keep it non-technical, but I enjoy talking about amphibian taxonomy. I like arachnids, too.
