Just Can’t Let This Go

Another story about the Loser who used to own our house…today the doorbell rang, holy cow is the ringer loud upstairs, and it was the mailman with a certified letter. The better-half signed for it and then looked at it. Wait, hold it right there. It was a packet for the Loser from the IRS.

We bought this house in December of 2004. We’ve lived here since January of 2005. Before we bought the house it was empty for about six months. The IRS hasn’t kept up with Loser in that amount of time? How come they always seem to know where we are? As the better-half said, “because we’re model citizens”. Oh yeah, we pay our taxes and crazy stuff like that.

I would love to know the Loser’s story. The clues we have are few…

  • he hasn’t paid someone based on the repeated calls from a collection agency

  • he couldn’t be bothered to sign his part of the paperwork until the day after we were scheduled to close, thereby holding up our closing
  • he did nothing, NADA, worthwhile to this house in the six or seven years he lived here (seriously, there are things a house will tell you if you know what to listen for)

Another thing we have in common. We bought our house from a dead beat couple that was getting divorced. 4 1/2 years later, we still get bills in the mail from department stores for recent purchases that she has made. Hopefully the post office is catching on to my nasy notes I leave on the mail. And they were outright liars at closing, telling us there were screens for the windows in the garage. Uh, no there aren’t. There are way too many examples to list here. Luckily no one has physically come here looking for them. Yet.

Hopefully your dead beat will be found so everyone will leave you guys alone.
