Twenty-Five Years Ago

I’m not a huge Beatles fan. I mean I like them and know a lot of words to their songs and can sing along, but I’m not obsessed. Today is the 25th anniversary of the shooting of John Lennon. I find it oddly strange that I clearly remember that happening. I’m not supposed to remember things that are a quarter century old.

I do find it strange that the anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the death of John Lennon have so far gotten about the same amount of coverage.

I remember it well. I was a freshman in college. It’s really hard to believe that much time has passed. Also, I can’t believe 25 years ago I was a freshman in college!

I vaugly remember the John Lennon murder, too. I remember being in my parents’ bedroom while my mom was doing something…I can’t remember what, but I was in there with her and the TV was on and that news story was on.

Did you see the Dateline story a couple weeks ago? There was a two hour story on it…I’d never really heard the story before so I found it very interesting…I’m not a Beatles fan either.

Hey, is your brother-in-law the music teacher at Rural Point? My son used to be in his drum group back when he was in the 5th grade. Anyway, my son’s band was performing there today to try to recruit the 5th graders for middle school band and he said he saw him.
