Well, the new job is pretty awesome. I have my own space which is something I haven’t had since 1998. That’s a long damn time. And, there’s a window. Holy Cow.
I’m busy with some logistical tasks and am learning new faces. I hope to whip out the logistics piece and then start with the more meaty part of the job soon. The bummer is that I’m still not in “the system” so that means that a lot of things haven’t happened yet. Hopefully, that will be taken care of next week.
One of the logistical pieces that I need to take care of is putting together training materials so that the training team can have something to give to all the participants. I do believe that I’ll never get away from putting together manuals. The rumor is some of that stuff will be transfered to another group when the new fiscal year starts in July. Until then, I’m the low man on the totem pole so I get to do it. At least some of the materials are ones that I wrote so I’m very familiar with how the pieces fit together.
I don’t really have much to report other than this. I did attempt an entry yesterday about the insane deer posse in the front yard but in the middle of writing it the computer shut off on it’s own and I was too lazy to turn it back on.
We had eight or nine deer in the yard yesterday afternoon. A couple of the younger deer were racing around the front yard and climbing on each other. One of the deer actually did something close to a double axle. The older deer just continued to eat and ignored the antics. I guess spring fever has hit.
No deer stories, but the farmer up the road was spreading his fields with manure yesterday, and at least a thousand seagulls descended on the field. I haven’t seen that many seagulls except for on the beach and in McDonalds parking lots. It was quite remarkable.
Glad to hear you have a window!
Seagulls and manure…tasty mixture.
What is it about parking lots & seagulls anyway? The McD’s near us is so busy that a gull would be silly to sit in the parking lot but they do hang out at WalMart.
Hey, Congats on getting a window and the new job of course. My hubby’s office has no window and next month they are moving the offices and he gets a smaller office, also without a window. Since we live in AZ and the weather is mostly gorgeous, I feel this is a crime. He is “thrilled” and they are making them come in on a day off to move. I absolutely love reading your blog. Keep up the great thoughts and such.
Thanks, Jet. I hate working on days off…it stinks. I also think it stinks that companies expect it.
