Out of Joint

Since I met the better-half, lo those many years ago, he has talked about a movie called Koyaanisqatsi. I have never seen it and now that I think about it, I’m not sure he’s ever seen it. I know, I know, years of hearing him talk about the movie and I can’t remember if he said he saw it or if he said he wanted to see it. And, to think I profess to being a good listener. Whatever.

I got home this afternoon and noticed that it was playing. I raced around to scrounge up a video tape (the one in the VCR still has stuff we need to watch on it) and slapped it into the machine. I missed the first 15 minutes which is normally a total shame and not something you should ever do. But, frankly, there isn’t a plot to the movie and as far as I know there isn’t any dialogue so missing 15 minutes of a movie I’ve heard about for years doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. The important thing is that I’ll get to see what the fuss is all about. And, I’m sure the better-half will be pleased as punch as well.

When I was in art school (umm-20 years ago!) one of the classes I was required to take as part of my major wasn’t really a class at all but a mandatory block of time in which we had to sit around and watch movies, this movie was one of them. I can’t remember anything about it though, which either means I hated it or I’m old and starting to forget things.
