Invisible Robots

Ages ago the better-half and I were watching Mad TV* (at least that’s what we remember watching–who knows for sure) and they had a cartoon on about James Brolin and Stedman (Oprah’s man) and how Stedman was teaching James how to get out of the house without Barbra seeing him or caring or something. It seems that cartoon Stedman had convinced cartoon Oprah that he was a secret agent and he had to go out and do battle with invisible robots. As I type this, it seems really stupid and not funny, but it was and we still pull out the old “invisible robots” routine occasionally and crack up about it.

Many people have asked me how the cat has adjusted to the big move (nice segue–it all relates, stay with me). Last Monday after the movers were done, I went back over to the old house and tried to stuff Leon in his cat carrier. Leon hates the carrier and put his hind legs out to brace himself. I couldn’t get him into the carrier. So, I scooped him up and carried him out to the car. He sat on the backseat with a minimal of whining for the quick drive over to the new house. He actually sat right in the middle of the backseat so that I could reach around and pet him. The first couple of days he frequented the space behind the couch and wanted lots of lovin’.

After the first couple of days, the invisible robots started attacking him. The invisible robots have taken control of his tail and have turned his tail into a killing machine. It is a wonder that the cat can eat or drink with all the fighting that he must do. Really, the cat is protecting us by constantly squashing the rebellion at the end of his body. Normally the worst of the battles occur on his blue towel at one end of the couch. The other day, though, terror struck as he was exiting the litter box area. He had to scramble and flee downstairs at Mach 1. It is amazing that we all lived through that.

* I found a passing mention of something called TV Funhouse showing that cartoon but I’ve never heard of TV Funhouse. Perhaps TV Funhouse provided that segment to Mad TV?
