Tuesday morning, In the dark

Today the better-half had something to return to Tuesday Morning (if you don’t have a Tuesday Morning in your area, it is a store that sells household goods for 50-80% off) before the time expired on returns. What was he returning? Something he purchased for his mother’s birthday. We got it home and it didn’t work. Have I mentioned that nearly everything we do for her ends up this way?

The store has been closed for the last few weeks for restocking and we were worried they wouldn’t open in time for the item to be returned. Although, honestly, they would have either given us our money back or I was prepared to make a scene. While the better-half went through the process of getting his money back, I wandered around. I couldn’t really tell what “new treasures” were there since it looked like the same old stuff piled on top of the same old stuff.

I did notice that it took two people to give him his money back and the few zombies shopping there piled up behind him. Afterwards we went next door for lunch and over our sandwiches he told me that the first person waiting on him was new and had never done a return. That explains why two sales people had to wait on him.

We have a theory, though, about Tuesday Morning and here it is: because you can save 50% or more, they don’t have a problem with piling stuff on top of stuff; they don’t have a problem with making you wait in a line; and only women with lots of time on their hands shop there. Truly, the better-half is the only man I’ve ever seen in there. Not that I frequent the place or anything. I’m not much of a shopper and usually we duck in there during lunch and are out in 5 minutes. Unless, of course, we have to pay for something. The wait at the register takes more time then walking in and finding what you just must have.
