I am an old lady

We had dinner last night at Acacia to celebrate the anniversary. Let me start by telling you this is one of the better restaurants in the Richmond area. The chef was named a Food & Wine Best New Chef a few years back. The restaurant is in a restored church and it is small, intimate, romantic and the food is delicious. We’ve been there many times for special occasions. It is the kind of place that makes you want to dress up a little, sit up straight and have witty conversation over drinks.

With all of that said, I’m just going to come right out and say it: I am an elitist snob. It was an affront to my senses that at a table of four, two young women were wearing baggy grey sweat pants and scruffy t-shirts at dinner.
The sweat pants weren’t the kind that can pass for anything resembling juicy. They were the kind you’d wear to the gym or, if you were sick, wear them all day while sleeping on the couch.

And, to cap it off, one of them talked on their cell phone while in the bathroom.

This is a disturbing trend that I’m witnessing more and more: chatting on your cell while taking a piss.

I too have noticed the disturbing trend of talking on the cell phone while peeing. Before I went on maternity leave there were several instances in the company washroom when I thought someone was talking to me only to realize they were on the PHONE! If I were the person on the other end I’d be pretty insulted, but thats just me. I too am an elitest snob because I think sweatpants are for excercise or for sleeping only, certainly not for dining in lovely restaurants.

If you’re old, so am I. Unless you’re talking to your urologist, cell phones don’t belong in the bathroom.

Congrats on the anniversary, by the way!
